Water department staff is gearing up to start the annual fire hydrant flushing week. Staff will be flushing around the City the week of May 11-15 and if needed, May 18-22. Flushing is imperative to the water main system as it flushes sediment from the water lines and exercises the hydrant to ensure it would be working properly in an emergency.
Here are some things to be aware of during this week:
1. If you see staff flushing in your neighborhood, please try to refrain from washing clothes or using your water. There is a potential to draw discolored water into the home while the flushing is being done.
2. If you do see discolored water, please run your cold water for 15-20 minutes. If the discoloration persists, please call the office at 763.441.2020. Staff may need to flush again in your area.
3. If there are any questions or concerns, please contact the office.
We thank you for your patience while we perform our necessary maintenance!
