Public Electric Vehicle Charging
Elk River Municipal Utilities recently installed its first public charging station downtown Elk River, in the parking lot where the Farmers Market is held, with future charging stations planned. The charging station, which offers Level 2 charging at 240 volts, is located near two reserved parking spaces for electric and hybrid electric vehicles. The charging station features two EV Plugs (J1772). The hourly fee to charge a vehicle is $1.00 per hour for the first 3 hours, and $2.50 per hour thereafter.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
The charging station is accessed through the ChargePoint network. Visit www.chargepoint.com for complete instructions and tech support.
The basic steps are:
- Access the charging station with a ChargePoint card, the ChargePoint smartphone app, or call the customer service number posted on the station.
- Once access has been granted through ChargePoint, plug in your EV or PHEV.
- ChargePoint will notify you via text message or email when your vehicle is done charging.
